Test Formats
IELTS Academic – For higher education or professional registration, focusing on academic English skills.

Test Formats
- Listening – Lasts 30 minutes and includes four audio recordings with questions testing your understanding of main ideas, details, and opinions.
- Reading – 60-minute section. Academic includes long academic texts; General Training uses everyday materials like notices and advertisements.
- Writing – Two tasks in 60 minutes. Academic: describe visual data and write an essay. General Training: write a letter and an essay.
- Speaking – 11–14 minute face-to-face interview assessing fluency, vocabulary, and pronunciation through general questions, a short talk, and discussion.
Scoring
Scored from Band 1 (non-user) to Band 9 (expert). Each section has its own score, averaged for the overall band. Results are valid for two years.
